The Country House was founded on three pillars of values:
1) Integrity – with our people, products, and prices
2) Fairness – to everyone we deal with; from tea pluckers, plantation owners, tea blenders, the logistics personnel, to the most important people: the customers
3) Passion – for tea and towards our goal to deliver the finest products at unmatched prices right to your home
Educational Empowerment in Calcutta, India
The city of Mother Teresa, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Amartya Sen, Satyajit Ray ... the list is endless – is no stranger to the trials and disparities of modern India.
We encourage educational initiatives in the city and have pledged to donate 10% of our profits towards such programs. Going forward, we would also look at sponsoring financial literacy programs in agrarian, tea-growing regions such as Darjeeling and Assam.
TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE
We believe in the triple bottom line – our focus as a company is on the economic, social and environmental impact we can have with our business. With that, we have put into place stringent controls for waste management and efficient packaging.
As a rule – most tea companies sell tea in tins that cost more than the tea inside them! With The Country House, our packaging cost is never more than 10-15% the value of the tea we put inside. Read more about our packaging approach here.
